WriteMonkey is an application for full screen distraction and free creative writing. No whistles and bells, just empty screen, you and your words. WriteMonkey is light, fast, and perfectly handy for those who enjoy the simplicity of a typewriter, but live in modern times.

By using this lightweight application, you can quickly create, modify and save notes to your computer, so you do not have to try and make sense of a heavy text editor.

Highlighting helps you visually discern semantic chunks of texts (headings, block quotes, lists and comments). Writemonkey suports Markdown. Start any paragraph with two slashes "//" and the whole paragraph will be regarded as a comment. It will be dimmed on the screen and excluded from word count and all other statistics.
